Wuhan EPHE’s Core Equipment Delivered to the Middle East, Powering Successful Commissioning of World’s Largest Overseas Polysilicon Project
Release time:2026-02-10
Recently, under the scorching sun in the Sohar Free Zone, Oman, a 100,000-tonne-per-annum polysilicon production facility has officially been put into operation.
As the first polysilicon plant in the Middle East with a total investment of 1.6 billion USD, its commissioning not only embodies Oman’s strategic vision of economic diversification under Oman Vision 2040, but also marks a milestone breakthrough for Chinese technology, standards and equipment in the high-end global new energy manufacturing sector.
In this “Oman Project” that profoundly reshapes the global silicon material industry landscape, Wuhan East Petrochemical Heavy Equipment Co., Ltd. — a national-level “Little Giant” enterprise specializing in sophisticated and innovative technologies from Wuhan — has laid a solid engineering foundation with nearly 100 sets of core process equipment, emerging as a robust force propelling China’s high-end equipment onto the world stage.

Core processes in polysilicon production — including cold hydrogenation, reduction, rectification and tail gas recovery — impose extremely high requirements on equipment in terms of high-temperature resistance, corrosion protection and long-term stability.
With more than a decade of technical expertise in heavy-duty pressure vessels, Wuhan EPHE served as the core process equipment supplier for the project. It designed, manufactured and delivered 27 over-limit towers and 71 heat exchangers, forming the “steel backbone” of the production line.
All equipment was developed and built in strict accordance with Chinese standards, using high-end materials such as nickel-based alloys and duplex stainless steels, fully adapting to the extreme high-temperature environment in Oman and the harsh medium conditions in polysilicon production.
“The equipment provided by Wuhan EPHE has been a crucial pillar enabling the project to achieve ‘China Speed’,” remarked a responsible person from China National Chemical Engineering (CNCEC), the project contractor.Despite multiple challenges including international logistics and cross-cultural cooperation, Wuhan EPHE completed the delivery of all equipment on schedule and with guaranteed quality, providing reliable support for the project’s rapid progress from construction to smooth commissioning.
As a leading enterprise in R&D and manufacturing of high-efficiency heat exchange equipment, Wuhan EPHE’s “going global” is no accident.
The company holds more than 50 authorized patents, actively participates in formulating industrial standards, and maintains in-depth cooperation with Tianjin University, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other research institutions, establishing a full-chain service capability covering design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning.
With an annual capacity of over 25,000 tons, its products are exported to more than 20 countries and regions worldwide, serving international industrial giants such as BASF and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC). The company has gradually built an outstanding reputation for Chinese equipment in high-end chemical sectors including polysilicon and LNG.
Forging national key equipment to empower global development.
Going forward, Wuhan EPHE will continue to take technological innovation as its core driving force, deepen collaboration with the international industrial chain, and provide more efficient and reliable Chinese equipment solutions for the global energy structure transition.
It will also offer a replicable and scalable successful model for Chinese enterprises to deeply participate in the Belt and Road green energy cooperation.
