The Wuhan Donghai Three-Stream Coiled Tube Heat Exchanger Has Been Successfully Applied in Oil and Gas Field Processing Module Units.

  Recently, our company received a user report from the North China Oil & Gas Branch of Sinopec. The natural gas coiled-tube heat exchanger (E-0201), supplied by us for the treatment station's heat exchanger blockage remediation project at the Daniudi Gas Field, has been in operation since its commissioning in March 2021. It has demonstrated stable performance, with all key indicators surpassing the design specifications, successfully replacing the original plate-type heat exchangers in the existing system.

  This equipment was developed by our company's R&D center using Coilwound, an independently created spiral tube heat exchanger calculation software. By constructing a 3D model and conducting dynamic flow field analysis, we identified and addressed the issues inherent in the original plate-type heat exchangers. The result is a brand-new three-stream spiral tube heat exchanger with a unique design: the shell side handles natural gas feedstock, while the tube side accommodates both the top gas from the absorption tower and the bottom liquid from the same tower. Notably, this innovative design integrates what were originally two separate heat exchangers into a single, compact spiral unit, significantly saving space for the client. Moreover, it effectively resolves the common problem of clogging in the previous setup, which often led to a sharp decline in heat transfer efficiency. The device has also received high praise from the client for its advanced structural design and energy-efficient operation, ultimately enabling a successful upgrade that replaces the original plate-type heat exchangers in the existing system.

  Based on the operating conditions of this equipment, our company has optimized the material selection for the original all-stainless steel unit. Specifically, the shell is made from low-temperature steel 16MnDR, while the tube sheets are crafted from a combination of 16MnDⅣ and filler metals E309L + E316L. The tube side features a low-temperature steel composite plate composed of 16MnDR and S31603, and the heat exchange tubes themselves are made from ultra-low-carbon austenitic stainless steel S31603. By carefully aligning material choices with process requirements and industry standards, we’ve successfully reduced procurement costs for the client. Additionally, the tube bundle design incorporates our newly developed, patented technology that effectively prevents short-circuiting and flow bypass—issues that commonly arise in horizontal applications of coil-type heat exchangers.

  The successful retrofit of this equipment further expands the application of Wuhan Donghai’s coiled-tube heat exchangers in the natural gas sector. Moving forward, Wuhan Donghai will continue to strengthen its R&D efforts and foster innovation, striving wholeheartedly to deliver even more high-quality products to our customers.
