Advantages of spiral baffling: Compared to traditional vertical bowplate baffle heat exchangers
  1) The medium flows continuously and smoothly in a spiral pattern within the shell, eliminating the significant pressure losses caused by transverse flow redirection, thus resulting in lower pressure drop.
  2) Under the same pressure drop, the flow velocity of the shell-side medium can be significantly increased, thereby boosting the Reynolds number and enhancing the medium's heat transfer capability.
  3) Since the shell-side medium flows spirally forward, a velocity gradient is generated in the radial cross-section, creating radial turbulence. This turbulence helps thin the stagnant layer on the surface of the heat transfer tubes, thereby enhancing the film heat transfer coefficient.
  4) Compared to the conventional cross-flow design, this approach eliminates stagnant dead zones, leading to higher heat transfer coefficients while simultaneously reducing fouling buildup and stabilizing thermal resistance. As a result, the heat exchanger can maintain highly efficient operation at all times—making it especially suitable for handling highly viscous fluids. This design not only lowers thermal resistance and enhances the film-based heat transfer coefficient but also significantly cuts down the frequency of shutdowns required for cleaning.
  5) The spiral baffle provides stronger restraint on the heat exchange tubes compared to the segmental baffle, reducing tube bundle vibration and thereby extending the equipment's operational lifespan.
  
Advantages of the anti-short-circuit spiral baffle: Compared to conventional spiral baffle heat exchangers
  1) Addressed the triangular space short-circuit issue inherent in conventional helical baffles, ensuring that heat transfer efficiency is at least 20% higher than that of comparable arch-plate baffle heat exchangers.
  2) The anti-short-circuit spiral baffle structure achieves a pressure drop 20% to 40% lower than that of the bow plate heat exchanger, thanks to its uniform and continuous flow path.
  3) The anti-short-circuit spiral baffle design eliminates the triangular stagnant zones—areas accounting for two-fifths of the total heat transfer surface—that are typically formed by conventional bowplate baffles, thus preventing fouling and ensuring long-term operational reliability.
  4) The short-circuit-proof spiral baffle structure features a cross-overlapping lap joint design, ensuring uniform and continuous flow paths while providing excellent rigidity and vibration resistance.
