Recently, the 600×10⁴ m³/d tail gas treatment unit at the Gaoshiti-Moxi Block Dengsi Gas Reservoir Phase II project of PetroChina Southwest Oil & Gasfield Company (Anyue Gas Field) commenced smooth operation, meeting the latest national environmental standards. This milestone signifies that China’s first S31254 (UNS) super stainless steel Venturi combination tower and neutralization storage tank, designed and manufactured by Wuhan Donghai, has filled a domestic technological gap.
The Venturi combination tower (Venturi section) has a diameter of 1,600 mm, the cooling section measures 3,600 mm in diameter, and the neutralization tank is 2,200 mm in diameter. All internal components are fabricated from S31254 stainless steel, with the cooling section weighing 62.5 tons.
For S31254 steel welding, Hastelloy filler materials were used to ensure performance requirements. S31254 is a high-nickel, corrosion-resistant super austenitic stainless steel (also known as 254SMo), offering excellent corrosion resistance in harsh environments such as high temperatures and seawater. Its performance rivals that of Hastelloy and titanium in certain conditions, making it ideal for seawater, high-chloride, and saline environments.
